European Values Study in Malta

In Malta, the European Values Study was administered for the first time at the end of 1983 and the beginning of 1984. A preliminary report was communcated in a press conference by Gordon Heald, Managing Director of Gallup. A sociological analysis was later undertaken by Professor Anthony M. Abela and published in Transmitting Values in European Malta.
The Values Study was repeated in Malta in 1991 and 1999. The Office of the Prime Minister commissioned the survey in 1991 to Gallup and in 1999 to MISCO. In 1995, MISCO administered a local version of the World Values questionniare. Professor Anthony M. Abela undertook comparative sociological analyses of the Values Studies, and published research findings in books and articles locally and overseas.
