Title: A Short Rant About Compensations (work inspired from discussions with Chris Colombo and various others) In this informal talk, I aim to characterise key features and non-features of compensations in their diverse manifestations in the literature. In particular, I will be trying to identify what is it that really makes a compensation a compensation, what are the crucial features required to constitute a compensations and the challenges in developing a clean notion of compensation. In particular, I will be drawing inspiration and examples from recent experience in trying to define compensation automata and design a language with the notion of compensations as a primitive.
