USE OF AMUSEMENT MACHINES 
(RESTRICTION) REGULATIONS
1st June, 1988

Title .
Machines (Restriction) Regulations.
Interpretation.
"amusement machine" means any type of amusement machine
operated by the insertion into the machine of a coin or coins, or any
token, and from which a successful player neither receives nor is
offered any benefit other than the opportunity afforded by the
automatic action of the machine to play the game again without the
insertion of another coin or token, and, except for the purposes of
regulation 4, shall include machines known as "kiddie ride
machines", juke-boxes and public table soccer tables;
"premises" means any premises for the keeping of which a
licence or permit is required from the Commissioner of Police
under any Act, Ordinance, Regulation or other enactment, and any
premises registered as a club;
"token" means a device like a coin bought for insertion in
amusement machines instead of coins, for the operation of the same
machines.

3. No person shall keep or operate, or suffer to be kept or
operated any amusement machines on any premises without the
authority in writing from the Commissioner of Police.

4. The Commissioner of Police shall not authorise the
keeping and operation of more than three amusement machines on
any premises. 
Maximum value of 
coin or token.
5. The maximum value of the coin or token that may be
inserted in an amusement machine shall be of 10 cents, and the
maximum price for the playing of any one game on an amusement
machine shall be 10 cents.
Fees.
the issue of the authority to keep an amusement machine on any
premises the fee of -
( a ) Lm20  per annum  in respect of any one kiddie ride
machine, juke-box or table soccer; and
( b ) Lm100  per annum  in respect of any other one
amusement machine.
Offences and 
penalties.

7. (1) Any person who contravenes the provisions of
regulation 3 shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be
liable to the penalties established in the Criminal Code for
contraventions either separately or cumulatively.

Cap. 10.
(2) In the case of a second or subsequent conviction for an
offence against rue provisions of these Regulations the provisions
of article 320 of the Code of Police Laws shall be applicable, and it
shall be lawful for the court to cancel or suspend, for any time at its
discretion, the licence in relation to the premises where the offence
was committed.
