(SUBMISSION OF PLANS) RULES

2. (1) Each application presented at the Land Registry shall
be accompanied with the two plans hereinafter specified.
(2) One plan shall be on the 1:2,500 scale showing the exact
site and not a mere indication thereof. This plan must include the
following information:
( a ) the North Indicator; and
( b ) the distance from nearest corner or other fixed point,
such as a church or a tower.
Such plan, to be submitted on size A4 paper, must be
reproduced from the latest survey sheets of 1987 and the Schemes
have to be indicated where this applies.
(3) A second detailed plan shall also be submitted showing the
nature and extent of applicant’s rights. Details thereof are to be
exact and not mere indications, with no need for showing internal
divisions (rooms, etc.), and a block plan shall suffice. Such plan
shall contain the following information:
( a ) the scale that is being used (the plan shall contain both
a vertical and a horizontal scale bar);
( b ) the measurement of the facade and the depth, as well
as that of any irregular wall there might be;
( c ) the total area, where applicable; and
( d ) an indication of the property’s floor level.
Such plan shall be on size A4 or A3 paper, and the
following colours shall be used:
(i) Red - this indicates that applicant is the owner.
(ii) Yellow - common parts.
(iii) Green - parts subject to servitudes and other
third party rights, such as right of passage.
(iv) Brown - when the servitude can be specified,
such as a particularly placed right of passage.
(v) Blue - other rights not specified above:
Provided that a legend of the colours used is also to be
supplied.
(4) The plans referred to in sub-rules (2) and (3) have to be

signed by applicant and certified by an architect stating that he has
marked out all details given to him.

3. (1) With every application or request for an official search,
there shall be attached the official plan on the model shown in the
Schedule attached to these rules.
(2) In the case of an application, if that part of the plan shown
at a scale higher than 1:2500 so permits, the applicant may use the
plan mentioned in sub-rule (1) for the purposes and requirements of
rule 2(2) and (3):
Provided that when it is not possible to show clearly the
details mentioned in rule 2(3), the application shall also be
accompanied with a detailed plan of same, of a maximum size of
A1, which plan shall supplement the details required on the official
plan.
(3) The plans mentioned in sub-rule (1) shall be available on
request against a payment of Lm1 per plan from the Land Registry
between 8.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. from Monday to Friday.
(4) Any interested person may make copies of the plan referred
to in sub-rule (1), provided that the plan submitted with the official
search and/or the application shall be the original plan bought from
the Land Registry. The original plan shall include all markings,
colours, measurements and other information required by these
rules.
(5) The original plan duly completed by, or under the
supervision of, the architect in accordance with these rules, shall be
signed in blue ink by the architect who shall set his official stamp
or write his name in block capitals below his signature.
