PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT IN SMALL 
STATES COURSE REGULATIONS

Citation and 
interpretation.
1. (1) The title of these regulations is the Postgraduate
Diploma in Educational Planning and Management in Small States
Course Regulations.
(2) In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires:
"the Board" means the Board of Studies appointed in terms of
regulation 3(1);
"the course" means the course leading to the Postgraduate
Diploma in Educational Planning and Management in Small States;
"the Diploma" means the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational
Planning and Management in Small States.
Applicability.
January 1995 or later
Eligibility for 
Diploma.
3. A candidate shall in order to be eligible for the award of
the Diploma:
( a ) register as a regular student of the University;
( b ) complete the appropriate studies consisting of
coursework and practical work in Educational
Planning and Management;
( c ) satisfy all the requirements established in these
regulations.
Registration.
course if he is:
( a ) eligible for admission to the University as a regular
student in terms of the Admission Regulations of the
University; and
( b ) in possession of a degree from a University recognised
by the Senate, or holds appropriate professional
qualifications together with three years related
professional experiences that are acceptable to the
Board.
(2) Applicants may be asked to attend an interview for the
purposes of assessment of the required aptitudes and background in
accordance with regulation 1 of the Admission Regulations.

IN SMALL STATES COURSE
entrusted to a Board of Studies composed of a Chairman, a Course
director and three members. This Board is appointed by Senate on
the recommendation of the Board of the Islands and Small States
Institute.
(2) The Course director shall be responsible for the drawing up
of syllabi and course-lists, as well as for the preparation or
provisions for the availability of support material with the co-
operation and approval of the Board.
Course of studies. 6. The course extends over one academic year of full-time
studies or its equivalent and consists of study-units and practical
work, which  credits  are assigned.
Assessment. 7. (1) Students shall be assessed in the study-units during the
course in accordance with the criteria established by the Board.
(2) The following grading scheme shall be followed in the
allocation of credits: A, B, C, D and F, in descending order of
merit, with F indicating Fail.
(3) A student who fails in the assessment of a credit shall be
given a resit. If he is successful in the resit, the grade "D" shall be
awarded.
(4) A student shall be considered to have satisfied the
assessment criterion of the course if he obtains 25 credits.
Final grading. 8. The names of students who pass the Diploma shall be
published in alphabetical order in the categories:
Pass with Distinction
Pass.
