BYE-LAWS FOR THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF 
PHILOSOPHY - M.PHIL. - IN THE WORKERS’ 
PARTICIPATION DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

Citation and 
interpretation.
1. (1) The title of these bye-laws is Bye-Laws for the Degree
of Master of Philosophy - M.Phil. - in the Workers’ Participation
Development Centre.
(2) In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires -
"the Board" means the Board of the Workers’ Participation
Development Centre;
"the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed for
the course; 
"the Centre" means the Workers’ Participation Development
Centre; and
"the course" means the course leading to the Degree of Master of
Philosophy - M.Phil.

Honours level (normally not lower than a Second Class Upper
Division) in an area of studies closely related to industrial relations
shall be eligible to apply. The Board of Studies shall also consider
applications from candidates with a qualification from the
University of Malta or another University considered as equivalent
by the Senate, on the recommendation of the Board of Studies.

5. The Board of Studies may lay down additional
requirements to be satisfied during the course.

Dissertation format 
and presentation.
8. Unless otherwise specified by the Centre, the length of the
dissertation shall not exceed 50,000 words.
Copies. 9. Students shall be required to submit three copies of the
dissertation adequately bound for examination and shall include an
abstract of not more than 300 words. Within one month of passing
the examination of the dissertation, students must submit two
copies of the dissertation, one of which shall be deposited at the
University Library and one kept at the Centre, bound as follows:
in cloth (preferably black) with stiff boards and good
quality end papers; with lettering (preferably in gold)
on the front and spine showing:
(i) the name of the student;
(ii) the title or short title of the dissertation;
(iii) the degree for which the dissertation is
submitted; and
(iv) the year of submission.
Maps, diagrams, graphs, printed material, etc., should be
bound with the dissertation, but if this is not possible they should
be presented separately in special folders or volumes and
numbered.
Format. 10. The text must be typed on A4 sheets, on one side only, in
double line spacing and with a margin of 40 mm to the left and at
least 20 mm top, bottom and right.
