SELECTION OF APPLICANTS FOR ADMISSION TO 
THE DIPLOMA IN HEALTH SCIENCE (DENTAL 
TECHNOLOGY) COURSE REGULATIONS

Technology) Course Regulations.
Applicability.

Science at the Institute of Health Care commencing in October
2001.
Selection of 
applicants.
2. The number of students that may be admitted to the Dental
Technology area of study shall be limited as provided in terms of
the provisions of these regulations.

students shall be 
limited.
3. The number of students shall be limited to ten students,
provided that if the applicants falling in the last eligible group with
the same number of points is such that the total number of
applicants to be admitted exceeds ten, then the applicants in that
group shall be interviewed by an  ad hoc  Admissions Board
appointed by Senate in order to fill the remaining place/s. The  ad
hoc  Admissions Board may consider additional qualifications to
those indicated in regulation 6(4).
Requirements for 
registration.
4. In order to be admitted into the course applicants must
satisfy the requirements for registration as regular or probationary
students of the University as specified in the Admission
Regulations and any other requirements for admission to the course
as specified in the regulations for the course.
Where there are 
more than ten 
eligible applicants.
5. If there are more than ten eligible applicants, the best ten
applicants shall be selected by the University Admissions Board,
after seeking the advice of the Admissions Committee of the
Institute of Health Care, in accordance with the criteria for
selection as specified in regulation 6(4).
Criteria for 
selection.
6. (1) Applicants for the Dental Technology area of study are
required to satisfy the entry requirements as laid down in the
regulations for the course.
(2) If applicants present more than one pass in a subject, only
the best grade shall be taken into consideration. Subjects may only
be offered at one level.
(3) For the purpose of selection, only qualifications obtained
by 31st August 2001 shall be taken into consideration.
(4) The ten applicants shall be selected from amongst all
eligible applicants according to the points awarded for their

qualifications. For this purpose, only passes at any level in English
Language, Maltese, Mathematics, a Science subject and the best
result in any two other subjects shall be taken into consideration.
