STATUTE 05 - LIBRARY COMMITTEE STATUTE

Citation.
Statute.
Library 
Committee.
1. (1) The Library Committee shall consist of the following
members:
( a ) the Rector or his delegate, as Chairman;
( b ) the Librarian, who shall also be Secretary to the
Committee; and
( c ) five members of the academic staff, and five students
from different faculties, provided the number shall not
be more than one from each faculty.
(2) The academic members in paragraph (1)( c ) shall be
appointed by Senate, while the student members shall be appointed
by the Kunsill ta’ l-iStudenti Universitarji hereinafter referred to as
the KSU.

Term of office.
on the Committee for a period of one academic year, provided that
the representative of each faculty shall alternate between a student
and a member of the academic staff. Retiring members shall be
eligible for re-appointment.

for three consecutive meetings of the Committee, he shall cease to
be a member, and another member shall be appointed in his stead
by Senate or the KSU as the case may be. Such new member shall
remain in office only during the remaining period of office of the
member replaced by him.

votes, the Chairman or the member acting in his stead shall also
have and exercise a casting vote.
Duties of the 
committee.
8. The Library Committee shall:
( a ) receive the Librarian’s Annual Report on the working
of the Library and forward it to Senate in the form

approved by the Committee;
( b ) submit recommendations to the Finance Committee
concerning funds required for staffing, stocking and
equipping the Library;
( c ) draw up regulations for the use of the Library, and
submit them for Senate’s approval; and
( d ) advise the Librarian on policies for the development of
library services.
