DIPLOMA IN DIPLOMATIC STUDIES COURSE 
REGULATIONS

Admission 
conditions.
1. Candidates must be holders of the Certificate in Diplomatic
Studies of the University of Malta.
Course content.
study three subjects for a total of 60 hours each. The subjects are:
International and Transnational Law
International and Transnational Economics
International Relations and Diplomacy
2.2 Studies in the above fields shall follow the "selected
topics" approach and the seminar method. Students will present at
least two papers for each subject area.
2.3 Candidates shall also write a research paper of no more
than 15,000 words, falling within the ambit of one or more of the
above subject areas, approved by the Director.
Assessment.
end-of-year examination in each subject area. Examinations shall
be held during the second half of June.
3.2 Coursework and examination marks shall count for half of
the final mark each.
3.3 The research paper under regulation 2.3 shall be examined
separately. It must be submitted before 31st July.
3.4 Marks shall range from A to E, with A being the highest.
To be awarded the Diploma, students must obtain a pass mark of D
in all subject areas as well as in the research paper. A candidate
who has failed in one subject or the research paper may be allowed
to sit a supplementary examination or re-write the paper, as the
case may be, within three months of the publication of the
examination results or submission of the paper.
3.5 A candidate who has failed in more than one subject area,
including the research paper, or who has failed in a supplementary
examination or in re-writing the paper, shall not be admitted to the
Diploma.
Publication of 
results.
4. The names of successful candidates shall be published on
the notice board of the University, in alphabetical order.
