BOARDS OF STUDIES GENERAL REGULATIONS

Citation.
General Regulations.
Applicability.
1994/95.
Establishment of 
Boards.
3. There shall be a Board of Studies for each course of studies
leading to the award of a certificate, diploma or degree.
Composition of 
Boards.
4. Each Board of Studies shall be appointed by Senate and
shall normally be composed of:
( a ) the Dean of the Faculty or the Director of Institute
concerned, or his nominee, as Chairman, and at least
two and not more than five academic members
appointed on the advice of the Faculty Board or Board
of the Institute normally from among the Heads of
Department or Co-ordinators involved significantly in
the delivery of the course. Where a course is co-
ordinated by a person appointed specifically by the
Board, the Co-ordinator shall be the Vice-Chairman;
( b ) two students elected by and from among the students
in the course; and
( c ) the Faculty Officer, or a member of the administrative
staff nominated by the Registrar who is to act as
secretary.
Functions of 
Boards.
4. The functions of the Board shall be:
( a ) to implement the regulations governing the course of
studies, subject to the general directions given by the
Faculty Board or the Board of Institute concerned;
( b ) to monitor and evaluate the course programmes;
( c ) to make proposals to the Faculty Board or the Board of
Institute concerned for revisions of the course
programme and of the regulations; and
( d ) to monitor the procedures used in the assessment of
the performance of the students.
