PROTECTION OF  WIED ID-DIS  BRIDGE
(G _HARG _HUR LOCAL COUNCIL) BYE-LAWS
15th February, 2002
LOCAL COUNCIL BYE-LAW 24/1/2002.
Citation.
Dis  Bridge (G _harg _hur Local Council) Bye-Laws.
Interpretation.
Cap. 363.
"advertisement" means any type of advertisement, including any
commercial or non-commercial promotion, and includes also any
other notice, notification or message printed or in writing;
"Council" means the G _harg _hur Local Council;
"locality" means the G _harg _hur locality;
"street furniture" includes any object which may be placed or
fixed to the ground or placed or fixed to the wall or to any other
part of the Bridge;
"the Bridge" means the bridge over  Wied id-Dis  within the
locality of G _harg _hur, and includes the walls, fixtures and the road
which runs over the bridge;
"vehicle" includes any motor car, motor cycle or any other
vehicle which is used as a means of transport, whether it is a motor
vehicle or not, but does not include bicycle or scooter.
Prohibitions.
the Council:
( a ) ascend or abseil, by means of ropes or other means, at
any part of the Bridge;
( b ) make any type of ties to the Bridge with ropes or by
any other means;
( c ) fix any board, banner, sticker or advertisement to any
part of the Bridge;
( d ) fix or place any street furniture to or on the Bridge;
( e ) park any vehicle on the Bridge.
Penalties.
the provisions of these Bye-Laws shall be guilty of a contravention
and shall be liable, if found guilty, unless a higher penalty is
applicable under any other law:
( a ) for the first contravention to a fine ( ammenda ) of
twenty liri (Lm20);
( b ) for the second or subsequent contravention, to a fine
( ammenda ) of thirty liri (Lm30); and
( c ) in the case of a continuing contravention, to a fine

( ammenda ) of five liri (Lm5) for every day during
which the contravention continues.
Civil damages. 5. The imposition of a penalty under these Bye-Laws shall be
without prejudice to the right of the Council to recover all civil
damages caused by the commission of any contravention under
these Bye-Laws, including the right to carry out the repairs at the
expense of the guilty person.
