ATTORNEY GENERAL AND COUNSEL FOR THE 
REPUBLIC (CONSTITUTION OF OFFICE) 
ORDINANCE
To constitute the office of Attorney General to the Government of Malta
and the office of Counsel for the Republic.

l. This Ordinance may be cited as the Attorney General and
Counsel for the Republic (Constitution of Office) Ordinance.

2. There shall be an officer to be styled Attorney General who
shall have all the powers, duties and functions which under any
law, proclamation, regulation or other enactment in force in Malta
are vested in and have heretofore been exercised or performed by
the officer styled Public Prosecutor and Treasury Counsel.

3. (1) There shall also be an officer to be styled "Deputy
Attorney General" and officers to be styled respectively:
"Assistants to the Attorney General", "Senior Counsel for the
Republic" and "Counsel for the Republic", who shall exercise and
perform all such powers, functions and duties as may be delegated
or assigned to them by the Attorney General.
(2) In the exercise and performance of the powers, functions
and duties delegated or assigned to them as aforesaid, the Deputy
Attorney General, the Assistants to the Attorney General, the
Senior Counsel for the Republic and the Counsel for the Republic
shall, unless the contrary intention appears, have the same
obligations and enjoy the same protection and privileges as are by
law imposed on or given to the Attorney General.

4. The Attorney General, the Deputy Attorney General, the
Assistants to the Attorney General, the Senior Counsel for the
Republic and the Counsel for the Republic shall have power to
administer oaths.
