REGULATIONS

3. Dealers in poultry and rabbits shall use a stunner of a type
approved by the Principal Government Veterinary Surgeon.
Stunners of an approved type shall be issued by the Commissioner
of Police free of charge to persons licensed to deal in poultry and
rabbits:
Provided that these Regulations shall not apply to the
slaughter of poultry or rabbits for food by a member of the Jewish
community in accordance with the Jewish method of slaughter
when such food is intended for consumption by members of the
said community and the slaughter is effected without the infliction
of avoidable suffering.
