PARCEL PORTERS REGULATIONS

GOVERNMENT NOTICE 43 of 1939.
Title .

Services as parcel 
porters.
2. Persons offering their services for hire to the public for the
carrying of parcels released from the General Post Office shall be
known for the purposes of these Regulations as “parcel porters”.
Licence.
premises of the General Post Office without a licence from the
Commissioner of Police, who may limit the number of parcel
porters.
Suspension of 
licence.
4. The Commissioner of Police may suspend, for a period not
exceeding seven days, the licence of any parcel porter guilty of
improper behaviour towards the public or any postal official or of
any breach of these Regulations, and he may withdraw the licence
of a parcel porter who is convicted of a criminal offence.
Attendance.
6.00p.m daily, except Sundays.
Badge.
badge bearing the words “Parcel Porter” and a distinctive number.
The badge, which will be furnished by the Commissioner of Police,
shall remain the property of the Government and shall be returned
to the Commissioner of Police when the licence lapses.
Handling and 
carriage of parcels.
7. Parcel porters shall use the greatest care in the handling
and carriage of parcels, but no liability will be accepted by the Post
Office for damage to or loss of parcels after their release to the
addressee or his agent.
Prohibition of 
loitering.
8. Parcel porters shall not loiter in the main entrance of the
General Post Office and shall only enter the premises of the Post
Office at the request of the addressees of the parcels or their agents,
or of Post Office officials.
