BERTHING REGULATIONS
1st October, 1975

2. In these Regulations unless the context otherwise requires -
"Authority" means the Malta Maritime Authority and includes
any person authorised by it to act in its behalf;
"berthing" includes mooring, anchoring, and stopping;
"territorial waters" means any part of the territorial waters of
Malta;
"yacht" mans a sea going vessel, not below 4 gross registered
tons, used for pleasure purposes.

3. (1) The master or other person in charge of a vessel or boat
shall duly carry out any directives issued by the Authority
regarding the place where any such vessel or boat may berth in any
harbour or in the territorial waters, or the movement thereof in the
territorial waters.
(2) Any such directive may be either of a general nature, or
referring to yachts, or to other class of vessels or boats, or to a
particular vessel or boat.

4. Notwithstanding the provisions of regulation 3, the
Authority may prohibit the berthing or movement of any particular
vessel or boat or any class of vessels or boats in the territorial
waters.

5. The Authority may prohibit swimming and all kinds of
activities connected with underwater diving in any particular zone
of the territorial waters.

6. The Authority may prohibit trawling, trammelling,
dropping of anchors and any other activity, connected with fishing
or otherwise, in any particular zone of the territorial zones of
waters.
