PRE-TERTIARY INSTITUTE CERTIFICATE IN 
BAROQUE ARCHITECTURE COURSE 
REGULATIONS

LEGAL NOTICE 174 of 2001.
Citation and 
interpretation.
1. (1) The title of these regulations is the Pre-Tertiary
Institute Certificate in Baroque Architecture Course Regulations.
(2) In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires -
"the Board" means the Board of the International Institute for
Baroque Studies;
"the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed for
the course;
"the Certificate" means the Pre-Tertiary Institute Certificate in
Baroque Architecture; and
"the course" means the course of studies leading to the Pre-
Tertiary Institute Certificate in Baroque Architecture.
Applicability.
2001 or later.
Eligibility for the 
Certificate.
3. To be eligible for the award of the Certificate students
must:
( a ) be registered as provisional students in terms of the
Admission Regulations of the University;
( b ) complete the appropriate course of studies, obtain the
credits indicated in regulation 6(1) and satisfy any
other requirements prescribed in these regulations; and
( c ) satisfy all other requirements laid down in any other
relevant statutes, regulations and bye-laws of the
University.
Admission to the 
course.
4. (1) Applicants shall apply to register for the course on the
prescribed form and within the time specified by the Office of the
Registrar.
(2) Applicants shall be eligible to register for the course if
they:
( a ) possess a technical background and/or experience; and
( b ) pass an admission test set by the Board of Studies.
(3) Admission to the course shall be limited to applicants who
satisfy the requirements of subregulation (2), and who are
nominated by organizations that commission the course for their
employees after an agreement with the Board.

Course of studies. 6. (1) The course shall consist of the following two
compulsory study-units:
( a ) Baroque Buildings (7 credits); and
( b ) Building Practice (8 credits).
(2) A catalogue of study-units, indicating the code, title,
description, credits assigned to each and the method of assessment
(normally by coursework, which may include written assignments,
projects, and an examination at the end of the study-unit) together
with the weighting given to each component, shall be published
before the commencement of the course, following approval by
Senate on the recommendation of the Board.
Assessment. 7. (1) Credits shall be assigned according to the following
grades in descending order of merit: A, B, C, and D. Failure shall
be indicated by F.
(2) Students who fail in any component of the assessment of a
study-unit shall be allowed to re-submit their assessment/s, or resit
the examination once at the next examination session. If successful,
the maximum grade that may be awarded shall be Grade D.
(3) Students who fail a re-assessment shall be required to
withdraw from the course.
Attendance. 8. Regular attendance for all study-units of the course is
obligatory. In the case of absence for a reason the Board of Studies
considers valid, it may allow students to proceed with the course
provided that alternative arrangements are made to make up for the
missed lectures.
Final result. 9. (1) The final result shall take into account the students’
performance in the compulsory study-units.
(2) The names of students who qualify for the award of the
Certificate shall be published in a list in alphabetical order
classified as follows:
Passed with Distinction
Passed.
