CERTIFICATE IN DIPLOMATIC STUDIES 
REGULATIONS

Conditions for 
admission.
1. To be admitted to the course, candidates must satisfy the
Faculty Admissions Committee that they have the necessary
academic background to follow the course of studies with profit.
Duration and 
structure of course.
2.1 The Course for the Certificate in Diplomatic Studies shall
last for thirty weeks spread over two semesters.
2.2 Studies shall consist of 3 two-hour evening sessions per
week, dealing respectively with the following subject areas:
International Law
International Economics
International Relations and Diplomacy
Assessment of 
students.
3.1 Student performance shall be assessed by coursework,
examinations and an essay.
3.2 Students shall write an essay of no more than five thousand
(5000) words on a subject falling within the three subject areas of
the course, and they shall sit for end-of-year examinations in each
one of these three subject areas.
3.3 The examination paper shall contribute 50% of the final
mark in each subject area, the remaining 50% being made up of
coursework marks. Marks shall range from A to E, with A being the
highest. To be awarded the Certificate, candidates must achieve a
pass mark of D in all three subject areas and in the essay.
3.4 End-of-year examinations shall be held during the second
half of June. The essay shall have to be submitted on or before 31st
July.
3.5 A candidate who fails to achieve a pass mark in all the
subject areas and in the essay shall not be awarded a Certificate.
Publication of 
results.
4. The names of successful candidates shall be published in
alphabetical order on the notice board of the University.
