PREVENTION OF SWINE FEVER REGULATIONS

Title.
Regulations.
Interpretation.
requires- 
"Director" means the Director of Agriculture and includes any
officer of the Department of Agriculture duly authorised by him to
act on his behalf;
"swine" means any number of pigs and includes one pig;
"disease" means swine fever;
"pig breeder" means a person who owns, tends or deals with
swine.

3. (1) For the prevention of the spread of disease, the
Director may - 
( a ) require all pig breeders having under their care any
pigs over two months old to vaccinate any such pigs
against swine fever free of charge through the
government veterinary service in accordance with such
arrangements as may be made by the Director from
time to time;
( b ) require the registration of swine of any age or of
certain specified ages in any area or areas in the form
and manner and at the time he considers expedient;
( c ) require any pig breeder to give him all information
concerning the movements, including sales and
purchases, of the swine of his herd;
( d ) prohibit the introduction of new swine in a place or
places recently infected with disease;
( e ) at any reasonable time enter any sty or other place
where he has reasonable grounds for supposing that
animals are kept, for the purpose of -
(i) inspecting swine kept therein; 
(ii) vaccinating and inoculating such swine as he
considers require vaccinating and inoculating to
prevent the spread of disease;
(iii) marking of swine, in such a way as he considers
expedient, for the purpose of their identification
even after their being slaughtered and scalded.
(2) Pig breeders shall provide all necessary assistance to the
Director for the discharge of his functions in accordance with the

provisions of these Regulations.
(3) Pig breeders having in their care or possession swine
between two months and four months, shall notify the Director for
the purpose of their vaccination.

4. Any pig breeder who, at any stage, contravenes or fails to
comply with the provisions of these Regulations or who hinders or
obstructs the Director from doing anything that he may lawfully do
under the provisions of these Regulations shall be guilty of an
offence in accordance with Part II of the Prevention of Disease
Ordinance.
