CONSTRUCTION
WAGES COUNCIL ORDER 
13th January, 1953
GOVERNMENT NOTICE 26 of 1953, as amended by Order No. 1 of
1954; Legal Notices 63 of 1964, 21 of 1969 and 10 of 1971.
Title.

Field of operation 
of Wages Council.

2. The Construction Wages Council shall operate in respect
of all employees engaged in building, in civil engineering, and in
mechanical or electrical engineering or work, and in respect of all
employees engaged in marble works and lime kilns.

3. For the purposes of this Order -
( a ) the phrase ''building, civil engineering and mechanical
or electrical engineering work'' includes construction,
re-construction, maintenance, repair, alteration,
painting, decoration or demolition of any building,
road, harbour, dock, pier, bridge, viaduct, sewer,
drain, well or other work of construction, the
preparation for or laying the foundation of any work or
structure, the extraction from the earth of stone, clay,
sand or gravel, the manufacture of pre-cast concrete
masonry and concrete units, the manufacture of
cement tiles, and any plumbing work or electrical
wiring; and 
( b ) the phrase ''marble works'' and ''lime kilns'' includes
the cutting, dressing, setting and laying of marble
blocks or slabs to make ornamental or protective
services, and the preparation and setting of all marble
objects whether for ornamental purposes or not.

4. This Order shall not apply to employees employed by
woodwork contractors.
