STAMPING OF GOLD AND SILVER ARTICLES 
REGULATIONS 
13th September, 1968
GOVERNMENT NOTICE 646 of 1968.
Title. 
Silver Articles Regulations.
Gold or silver 
articles to be 
marked with 
government stamp.
2. No gold or silver article manufactured in the Islands shall
be, by any goldsmith, silversmith or other dealer, sold, exchanged
or otherwise dealt with in course of trade, unless such article is
marked with the government stamp.
Non-applicability 
of regulation.
3. The provisions of regulation 2 of these Regulations shall
not apply to -
( a ) any gold or silver ornament in any work of another
substance;
( b ) any gold or silver work which cannot bear the pressure
of the stamp without being broken or losing the
necessary solidity;
( c ) any gold or silver article having an antiquarian value;
( d ) any gold or silver article worked on platinum or
platine;
( e ) any gold or silver article in which the value of the
pearls or precious stones and of the manufacture is, the
opinion of the Consul, by far higher than the value of
the metal used.

4. For the purposes of article 10 of the Goldsmiths and
Silversmiths Ordinance, enlargements of the government stamps to
be impressed on the said article are reproduced in the Schedule to
these Regulations.

5. An official notice shall be exhibited in a conspicuous place
in the shop of each trader in gold and silver manufactures, in
accordance with the provisions article 10 (5) of the Goldsmiths and
Silversmiths Ordinance.

SCHEDULE
(Regulation 4)
Enlargement of Government Stamps 
For gold articles of 22 and 18 carats.
For gold articles of 15, 12 and 9 carats.
For silver articles of 959, 917, 875 and 800 millims.
