TOLERANCE FOR THE USE OF SOLDER 
REGULATIONS

Interpretation.
"Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Inland Revenue;
Cap. 46.

Solder which may 
be used.
3. (1) No solder may be used in the manufacture of gold or
silver articles unless it consists of an alloy based on the same metal
in which the solder is being used.
(2) The alloy of a solder shall not be below the standard of
fineness of the metal in which the solder is being used except as
may be necessary due to technical considerations.

4. The fineness of all parts of works of gold or silver shall not
be lower than the standards of fineness laid down in article 4 of the
Ordinance:
Provided that -
( a ) the Commissioner shall allow the use of solder in an
amount which in his opinion is not excessive;
( b ) in the case of filigree, small links and other similar
minute works, the Commissioner shall accept as
satisfying a recognised standard of fineness gold or
silver parts containing solder and which, taking the
solder into account, reach a margin inferior to the said
standard by not more than one fourth carat or ten
millims, respectively.

solder.
5. (1) No gold or silver articles shall be marked with the
appropriate government stamp if the Commissioner is of the
opinion that it contains excessive solder.
(2) Solder shall only be used in the quantity necessary for
joining and in no case shall solder be used for strengthening,
weighting, filling or otherwise.
