EXPORT OF GRAPES RULES

Title.

thousand one hundred and sixty five grams net weight of grapes,
sufficiently strong to warrant arrival to their destination in a sound
condition and so made as to permit adequate ventilation of the
grapes.

7. Every container shall carry a label showing the name of the
exporter and the net weight of the contents. The sides and bottom
of the containers shall be lined with suitable paper approved for the
purpose by an inspector of the Department of Agriculture.
Inspector to 
examine grapes.
8. Every consignment of grapes shall be examined by an
inspector of the Department of Agriculture, who may, in his
discretion, examine all or any one of the containers in any
consignment and the contents thereof.
Refusal to pass for 
export.
9. An inspector of the Department of Agriculture may refuse
to pass for export any consignment of grapes, in which case he
must have inspected not less than ten  per centum  of such
consignment.
New inspection.

Applications for 
inspection.
11. Applications for inspection shall be made to an inspector
or to the Director of Agriculture at least twenty-four hours before
shipment: 
Provided that applications may also be made within the
said period of twenty-four hours, but in such case the Department
of Agriculture shall not be under any obligation to make the
inspection within the required time.

12. Every application for inspection shall specify the name of
the exporter, the number of the containers and the description of

their contents and the destination of the consignment. 
Where grapes are 
inspected.
13. No application for inspection shall be considered unless
the grapes duly packed in the containers are exhibited in a place
approved for the purpose by the Director of Agriculture.
Fees. 14. No fees shall be charged for the inspection of a
consignment. If a consignment or part thereof which is refused for
export is subsequently re-submitted for inspection after re-sorting,
regrading or repacking as the case may be .  A fee calculated on the
basis of two mils per container examined shall be charged for the
inspection, provided that the fee for the inspection of any one
consignment or part thereof shall not be less than twenty-five cents.

15. If a consignment when inspected is found to conform in all
respects to the provisions of these Rules and to be fit for export, the
Director of Agriculture shall furnish the exporter with certificates
of health, quality and origin of the grapes.
Special provision. 16. To meet the requirements of any particular trade agreement
or of any special demand the Director of Agriculture may permit
the export of grapes which are classified, graded, packed and
marked otherwise than in the manner specified in these Rules.

17.  The Board of Reference referred to in article 18 of the
Agricultural Produce (Export) Ordinance shall be composed of the
Director of Agriculture or an officer of the Department of
Agriculture acting on his behalf as Chairman and two members to
be chosen from a panel of ten persons engaged in the agricultural
produce export trade or vinting trade. The panel shall be nominated
by the Minister responsible for Agriculture before the beginning of
each export season. On each Board of Reference one of the panel
members shall be selected by the complainant and one by the
Chairman. No panel member shall sit on a Board in connection with
any produce in which he has any interest.

18. A fee at the rate of five cents per package shall be
deposited with the inspector by the exporter requiring reference to
a Board of Reference, provided that the fee shall in no case be less
than three liri.
