PAYMENT OF FEES TO JURORS REGULATIONS

Interpretation.

''juror'' means a person who is sworn in as a juror in accordance
with the provisions of the Criminal Code and includes a foreman of
jurors, a supplementary juror and a special juror sworn as
aforesaid;
''registrar'' means the Registrar of the superior courts;

''day of service'' means a day during which a juror has given his
services and includes a Saturday, Sunday or other public holiday
when the jurors are not allowed to return home as provided in sub-
article (2) of article 471 of the Criminal Code.
Payment of fees to 
jurors not in receipt 
of salary or wages.
3. Subject to the provisions of regulation 5 of these
Regulations, the registrar shall, as soon as may be after every trial
by jury, pay to a juror a fee of ten liri for every day of service, or
part of such day, in respect of which the said juror was not in
receipt of any salary or wages from his employment when the trial
does not extend beyond fifteen working days and fifteen liri for
every additional day of service, or part of such day, as above
mentioned, beyond the said fifteen working days.

4. Subject to the provisions of regulation 5 of these
Regulations, the registrar shall, as soon as may be after every trial
by jury, pay to a juror a fee of three liri for every day of service, or
part of such day, in respect of which the said juror was in receipt of
any salary or wages from his employment.
Supplementary 
provisions.
5. No fee as provided under regulations 3 and 4 of these
Regulations shall be paid to a juror for the first three days of
service in any month in which he served as a juror:
Provided that where a trial by jury which commences in
one month continues in the following month or months, a juror
shall not be entitled to the payment of a fee, as provided in this
regulation, only in respect of the first three days of service in the
first month.
