PROCEDURES FOR POLICE LICENCES 
REGULATIONS

Title.

Interpretation.
Cap. 128.
2. In these Regulations, "licence" has the same meaning as is
given to in article 2 of the Police Licences Act.
Consultation by 
Commissioner of 
Police with 
government 
departments, 
agencies.
3. In processing an application for a licence the
Commissioner of Police shall, where applicable, seek to request
and obtain the views of Government departments or agencies for
the purpose of ascertaining whether there is any objection on their
part to the application and for prescribing, where necessary, the
conditions under which such licences or anyone or more classes
thereof may be granted renewed, transferred or cancelled.
Government

respond within the

4. Government departments or agencies shall respond in
writing to the Commissioner of Police by not later than thirty days
from the date of receipt of such request by the Commissioner. In
default, such government departments or agencies shall be deemed
not to object to the application.
Extension of time 
limit in special 
circumstances.
5. Government departments or agencies may in special
circumstances seek from the Commissioner of Police to obtain an
extension of the time limit referred to in regulation 4 and if the
Commissioner is satisfied that such request is justified he may
grant an extension of not more than thirty days, or such other
period of extension as he may deem necessary in particular cases
after consulting the Department or agency concerned.
Applicants to reply 
within time limit. 
6.   When an applicant for a licence fails to reply to a request
for information by the Commissioner of Police or by a government
department or agency or fails to comply with a condition imposed
by the Commissioner of Police or a government department or
government agency within a specified limit of time, his application
shall be considered as having been withdrawn and the
Commissioner of Police shall not in such circumstances take
further cognisance of the said application.
