SAUSAGES, SALTED MEAT AND OTHER 
PREPARED MEAT REGULATIONS

Interpretation.
requires-
"factory" means any premises used for making sausages,
hamburgers, beefburgers and similarly prepared meat and salted
meat and meat otherwise prepared;
"to sell" includes to offer, expose, advertise or keep for sale and
to supply by way of compensation or otherwise.
Application of 
Regulations.
3. These Regulations shall apply to sausages and other
prepared meat products, only when locally prepared.
Sausages, etc., 
shall be made in 
factory.
4. No person shall make any meat into sausages, beefburgers,
hamburgers and similarly prepared meat, salted meat and meat
otherwise prepared except in a factory.

5.  (1) No person shall use any premises as a factory or any
other similar establishment, by whatever name called, unless there
is in respect of such premises a valid licence for the purpose issued
by the Superintendent of Public Health, and no person may open or
carry on any such establishment unless he is in possession of a
valid licence for the purpose by the Superintendent of Public
Health.
(2) No licence shall be granted or renewed under sub-
regulation (1) if the premises, equipment, facilities as well as
personnel are not such as to provide such standard of quality of
sausages, hamburgers, beefburgers, and similarly prepared meat,
salted meat or meat otherwise prepared as the Superintendent of
Public Health deems to be satisfactory.
(3) The Superintendent of Public Health may, in granting or
renewing any licence under sub-regulation (1), impose any
condition as he may deem fit and may restrict the activities that
may be carried on in the premises.
(4) Where any premises are used or any act is done in
contravention of any condition or restriction contained in a licence
which had been granted or renewed under sub-regulation (1), any
premises so used and any act so done shall be deemed to have been
used or done without the licence required by this regulation.
(5) Any licence granted under the provision of sub-regulation
(1) shall lapse on the 31st December of the year in which it is
issued, but such licence may be renewed by the Superintendent of
Public Health from year to year.

Type and quality of 
meat to be used.
6. (1) All meat introduced into any factory shall be perfectly
sound and fit to be prepared into sausages, hamburgers,
beefburgers and similarly prepared meat, salted meat and meat
otherwise prepared, and no person shall introduce or attempt to
introduce into any factory any meat which is not in a wholesome
condition and duly stamped according to law. 
(2) No person shall - 
( a ) without the permission of the Superintendent of Public
Health, mix in the making of sausages, hamburgers,
beefburgers and similarly prepared meat, the meat of
animals of different species, or use any intestines that,
in the opinion of the said Superintendent, are unsound
or have not been sufficiently cleansed, or 
( b ) use in the preparation of blood puddings, sausages,
hamburgers, beefburgers, or similarly prepared meat,
any entrails, blood or meat in a state of putrefaction or
otherwise unfit for such use. 
(3) The skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, entrails and all such
other parts of an animal as do not consist solely of the muscular
tissue or fat shall be deemed to be unfit for such use. 
Persons may be 
searched. 
7. All persons entering or leaving any factory shall be liable
to search by an officer of the Department of Health whenever he
deems it necessary.

8.   No person shall sell any sausages, hamburgers,
beefburgers, salted meat or meat otherwise prepared, unless the
product complies in all respects with the provisions of regulations 5
and 6, and unless the product has been processed at premises
licensed in accordance therewith.
