EXTRADITION (DESIGNATED FOREIGN 
COUNTRIES) (NO. 2) ORDER

Interpretation.
"the Convention" means the European Convention on Extradition
(hereinafter referred to as "the Convention") opened for signature
in Paris on 13th December, 1957 and the terms of which are set out
only in the relevant convention published in the Government
Gazette dated 28th May, 1996;

"the relevant date" means the 17th June, 1996;
"scheduled countries" shall have the same meaning assigned to it
by article 3(1).

3. (1) Those countries listed in the Schedule (hereinafter
referred to as "scheduled countries") are hereby being designated as
foreign countries for the purposes of article 6 of the relevant Act
and any arrangement with any such countries applicable to Malta
before the relevant date by virtue of the provisions of article 30 of
the said Act shall be deemed to have been revoked with effect from
the relevant date.

Countries) Order, in so far as applicable to any scheduled country
of before the relevant date and to the extent that they are
inconsistent with the provisions of this Order, shall with effect
from the relevant date no longer apply to any such country.
(3) Saving the provisions of subarticle (4), any scheduled
country which before the relevant date was a designated
Commonwealth country for the purposes of article 4 of the relevant
Act shall on the relevant date be deemed to be no longer so
designated.
(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Order, a
scheduled country to which subarticle (3) applies shall, in respect
of a territory for the external relations of which it is responsible,
not being a territory listed in the Schedule, continue to be deemed a
designated Commonwealth country and article 4(3) of the relevant
Act shall be construed accordingly.
