CST 2191 - Presentation Techniques 

 

Value: ECTS Credits  4


Description: A unit intended to familiarize students with verbal and non-verbal techniques and aids used in public presentations. Students are expected to participate actively, with evaluation feedback from the other students in the group contributing to the lecture. The unit consists of the presentation and discussion of:


(a) Issues of Influence: persuasion, propaganda, etc, and issues of learning and audience reception: styles, delivery methods, etc.


(b) How to examine objectives, delivery methods, audiences and environment.


(c) The presenter as medium - public speaking, posture, expression, tone, non-verbals, etc.


(d) An introduction to the use of visuals (different categories of visuals, visual literacy, the generation of visuals - from match-stick figures to clip-art manipulation), audio, computer software and other tools to aid presentations, as well as report writing, bibliographies,  etc.


(e) An in depth study of the use of instructional and presentation media, including: the white/black board. the overhead projector (o.h.p transparencies and other transparency based material). slides. audio. video. role-play in presentation simulation. presentation software (Microsoft Power-point, etc). reality based and computer based models. other, audio-visual presentation aids.
