AbstractAims: To highlight (1) the incidence and clinical features of congenital CMV infection; (2) the diagnostic features and imaging; (3) the controversial issue regarding treatment; (4) outcome. Methods: Case report of a newborn infant presenting at birth with petechial rash, hepato-splenomegaly, hyperbilirubinaemia and pneumonitis. Conclusions: Congenital CMV infection remains an important of intrauterine infection with potential devastating complications for the infant. The difficulties of treatment and outcome are discussed.
