Human herpesvirus 8

AuthorDaniel C Edelman
AbstractIn 1994, Chang and Moore reported on the latest of the gammaherpesviruses to infect humans, human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8). This novel herpesvirus has and continues to present challenges to define its scope of involvement in human disease. In the general population of Sardinia, Sicily, and for the elderly in Malta antibodies to HHV-8 were found in 11%, 20%, and as high as 54%, respectively.
