AbstractThe project consists of a general description of the nature, aetiology, diagnosis and management of dermatophyte and yeast infections which affect the foot. The purpose of this project is to study fungal infections which are very common in Malta during warm weather owing to excessive heat. The literature in this project is taken from books, and journals about Podiatry. There are certain investigations about the diagnosis and management of the infections and comparison with other diseases. Diagnostic techniques are also included. This project also describes the different types of treatments available for the management of fungal infections and also the effect of the treatment on patients suffering from mycotic foot infections. The discussion is focused on the effects of the different types of treatments used in Malta in clinical practice and how these affect the infections.
