Abstract | The aim of this research project was to examine the technique adopted by qualified nurses at St. Luke's Hospital during the measurement of blood pressure. It sought to answer whether the technique conforms to research-based recommendations. The study was carried out in two medical wards and the sample population comprised ten qualified nurses. A descriptive non-experimental approach was chosen, using a nonparticipant observational method. A checklist was used to collect data. The results suggested that local nurses employ incorrect techniques in a number of actions concerning blood pressure monitoring. |
