| Abstract | Quality Assurance Systems (QAS) are becoming more popular around the world. It can help both product and service oriented organizations achieve standards of quality that are recognized and respected throughout the world. The author works as a Health Inspector (Hl) within the department of Public Health (DPH), hence it was of great interest to carry out this research study among the Health Inspectorate. AIM: The aim of this research project is to assess the preparedness of the Health Inspectorate for the introduction of a QAS. METHOD: The aims of this dissertation were achieved by means of questionnaires and an interview. CONCLUSION: This study concludes that the Health Inspectors need to be trained on quality improvement. The change in the culture among Health Inspectors attitudes is very difficult to change, and it is clearly shown the need for the introduction of an individual performance assessment among the Health Inspectorate. The study also shows the need for the implementation of a quality assurance system to improve the service and the image of the entire organisation. |
