This
option mainly involves
organising interactive activities and animation for children and
helping
them in their homework.

Elderly
(Little Sisters
of the Poor)
Volunteering
with the elderly
entails helping with the daily chores such as serving meals and kitchen
help. It may also include direct care of the elderly, help with house
maintenance
and also animation for the elderly such as tombola, quizzes and singing.

Environment
(Nature Trust)
This
placement involves
helping out in weeding, repotting, planting and watering. It may also
include
helping out in environmental research. This will either be in Wied
Ghollieqa,
(the valley near University) or Lija nursery.

|
Refugees
(Balzan Open
Centre)
Volunteering
with refugees
mainly involves teaching English and basic skills to adults.
|
|
Special
Needs (Step by
Step Foundation)
Volunteers
helping in this
area will be required to assist brain injured children in exercises to
help them improve their ability. Exercises may involve up to five
persons,
depending on the child's ability. In just a few months, children have
learnt
to creep, talk and even walk.

|
Young
People (Centru
Zghazagh Balzan)
This
placement involves
organising and animating youth meetings, fundraising activities,
helping
in the preparation of the liturgy, administration work and refurbishing
of the premises.

Other
forms of voluntary
work which falls outside these five categories may also be performed as
part of DGP0201 or DGP0201 if this is pre-approved by
us.
