Morphological Analysis

Suppose we wish to extend the approach to cover the spelling rules mentioned in the last lecture. The following issues should be borne in mind:

English morphographemics has a lot of right-to-left influence: the root itself can change according to the suffix.
There are plenty of words in which more than one rule applies.
Those rules were formulated from the point of view of generation, whilst we are more interested at this point in analysis.
We can make a chart of the spelling rules as follows.
