MINUTE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Held on 15/1/1999 The meeting started at 20:00 with 13 Members present out of 19. Victor, a light aircraft pilot, kindly attended our meeting and contributed with his experience to some of our discussions. According to the agenda, the following points were touched: a) FINANCIAL SITUATION - A healthy balance of L.M. 278.99 is in our current account. Members were invited to submit ideas on how to use this money for the good of the Club. Planting some grass at the Ghajn Tuffieha take-off was one of the main topics. In this respect, the efforts of David, Enrico and Charles a few months back to seed the place proved useless, as an efficient colony of ants was taking all seeds away. Alternative methods of turfing the place were suggested by some Members. Whoever can come up with a viable idea is encouraged to discuss it with David/Enrico. b) MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL - A number of Members have already paid their membership and insurance fees and signed their 1999 cards. Those who have not done so are invited to approach Enrico as soon as possible, with photos. Fees remain at L.M. 10 membership and L.M. 15 third party insurance. c) INSURANCE - Whoever is interested in making an extension of the insurance to include personal damages is invited to approach David. Proper negotiation can only be done if a sufficient number of Members are interested. d) PARAMOTORING - It was proposed that Paramotoring should be part of MPA. A majority of Members voted in favour of it and a sub-committee has been created. Needless to say, all people who own a Paramotor or are interested in having one, MUST be active Members of this committee. e) POROSITY - This issue is more serious than we thought, due to the abrasion our Paragliders go through at our take-off and landing places, where hard soil and rocks can damage the special canopy coating. Can any of you name a take-off in Malta which is nicely covered with smooth grass, like most of the places abroad? A sketch explaining the effect of porosity in a canopy was shown. Effects of high porosity range from poor performance to increased risk of stalling. Everyone is invited to approach Enrico with his Paraglider and have a free porosity measurement. Three new paragliding videos have been ordered, please check with Enrico in February if you are interested in viewing them at home. With nothing else to discuss, the meeting ended at 22:30.
