Editing and Browsing HTML Documents

Editing

There are several ways to create and modify HTML documents.
  1. Text Editor (e.g.Notepad). Since HTML documents contain only text, they are easily prepared using a standard text editor such as Microsoft Notepad (PC), Simpletext (Mac) or emacs (Unix). You decide exactly what the HTML code will look like. As a result

We will use this method initially.

  2. Netscape Composer. This is a WYSIWIG, HTML-oriented editor that comes free with Netscape. It is very easy to use but has certain limitations:

We will use Composer extensively during the course.

  3. Microsoft Word. Later versions of Word allow you to prepare a document in the ordinary way and "write-as" it in HTML. This is probably the quickest way of preparing a usable HTML document but it suffers from the same problems as Composer, only more so. Another potential problem is that Word is not free of charge.
