What This Course is About
This course is aimed at University staff who want to use internet to
complement or enhance their working activities, but who do not have
the time to study the associated techniques from scratch. The main
aim is to teach participants how to create systems of web pages for
efficiently conveying and publishing course-related materials on the
internet.
Why This Course is Different
- Hands on: the course involves a substantial practical component.
- Online: all course materials are online. Much of the course can
be followed via internet
- Brief: the course lasts only six hours
- Minimal prerequisites: Only familiarity with the basic concepts of word processing is required.
- Free Software: all software used is freeware that
can be easily downloaded from Computing Services at the University.
What You Will Learn
- Basic internet concepts.
- Introduction to HTML.
- Composition of web pages using different editors.
- Uploading and downloading pages from a server.
- Website design/organisation.
