Currently, the baby is on CMV in 28 % O2. Vent RR is 55 breaths per minute. Pressures are 20/4 cms H2O. Tidal volume is 2.5.
SaO2 is within the acceptable range and there have been no desaturations.
The most recent blood gas was taken at about 05:45. There is evidence of metabolic acidosis. pH is 7.18. CO2 is 5.95 kPa. BE is -10.6 mmol/L. The last ET suction was done at around 03:00. There were moderate amounts of purulent secretions and mucoid secretions. Oral suction was done. There were large amounts of blood stained secretions and mucoid secretions.
A blood gas was taken at about 20:30. pH was 7.18. CO2 was 7.39 kPa. BE was -10.6 mmol/L.
Between 20:45 and 07:45, SaO2 decreased from 93 % to 89 %.
An ET suction was done at about 23:45. There were moderate amounts of purulent secretions and mucoid secretions.
