Ms. Alexandra Bonnici

B.Eng(Hons)(Melit.), M.Phil.(Melit.), LLCM(TD), MIEEE

Assistant Lecturer

Department of Systems and Control Engineering

Faculty of Engineering,

University of Malta,

I received the Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Malta in 2004. I received technical training from ST Microelectronics (Malta) and Medelec Switch Gears (Malta) where I was employed as a student engineer in 2002 and 2004 respectively. Upon graduation, I was employed as a Postgraduate trainee with the University of Malta, where my work was mainly related to developing image processing tools for line drawing interpretation systems. This allowed me to complete my post-graduate studies at a Master's level in this area. In January 2008, I was employed as an assistant lecture with the Department of Systems and Control Engineering.
My research interests are in image processing and computer vision, particularly in their application to sketch interpretation and understanding. In fact, my current PhD studies relate to the development of image processing techniques for interpretation of paper-based drawings with artistic cues.
I am a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
