Research Projects

Worked full-time on the following research projects:

IdeLap

Launched in 2008 and financed by MCST, the IDeLap project (ICT based design tool from the Development of Micro-parts for a Laparoscopic Surgery tool) has the intent of contributing towards high value added manufacturing in Malta.

The main objectives of this R&I project were:

  • to develop a novel laparoscopic surgery tool
  • to capture the inter-disciplinary expertise and knowledge utilized in the process for subsequent reuse in other industrial sectors where the design and manufacture of micro-scale devices can be commercially exploited;
  • to develop an ICT based tool to aid designers in the early stages of design of micro scale biomedical devices.
AIM

The AIM (Amplifying Innovation in Manufacturing) project, which was launched in 2010, is part of a research platform in the area of manufacturing to facilitate and accelerate the transformation of local industry to higher value added activity. The project aims to demonstrate the benefits of research and innovation, thus encouraging increased industry involvement in such activities. The project is funded by European Regional Development Funds (ERDF) and will run until August 2012.

The main objective of this ERDF project was to contribute in the development, implementation and evaluation of a prototype computer-based tool that serves as a front-end for customers, designers and manufacturers , who are physically situated at different locations, to further amplify innovation in their work.

FEPIC

Creativity and leadership can make a difference in coping with the increasing complexity of future society. With this in mind, the FEPIC (Female Engineers Pushing Innovation in Companies) Project aimed at producing an innovation and leadership e-learning tool which is available online in 6 languages (English, Estonian, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Swedish).
