• 2009: The IEEE Outstanding Branch Counsellor Award for 2009.
• 2009: Student supervisor and 2nd author of paper which awarded one of the Best Paper prizes at the 2009 International Conference on Advanced Engineering, Computing and Applications in Science.
  
• 2009: Student supervisor and 2nd author of paper which was awarded the Best Student Paper Prize at the 2009 International Conference on Neural Computation, Portugal.
• 2008: Student supervisor and 2nd author of paper which was awarded the Best Student Paper Prize at the 2008 UKACC International Conference on Control, Manchester University, U.K. 
  
• 1998: Best Student Paper Prize at the 1998 IFAC Workshop on Adaptive Systems in Control and Signal Processing, Glasgow, United Kingdom.
• 1996-1999: Overseas Research Students (ORS) Award from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals of the Universities of the United Kingdom.
• 1995: The Laverick-Webster-Hewitt Prize from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom for best performance in the MSc Control Systems course 1993/94.
