Awarded the Central Electricity Generating Board Prize 2005 by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for the paper Computational prediction of out-of-plane welding distortion and experimental investigation, J. Strain Anal. Eng. Des., 40 161-176.

Nominated by the Welding and Joining Society Scottish branch for the Richard Dolby – Rolls-Royce 2007 Prize 2006, and have been selected in the final three.

Awarded the Ludwig Mond Prize 2007 by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for the paper Material Strain Hardening in Pressure Vessel Design by Analysis,  J. Proc. Mech. Eng., 221 89-100.

Awarded The Engineer Technology and Innovation Award 2009, the Royal Society, London, in Automotive/ Rail/ Marine category for the research work carried out on welding distortion and residual stresses made up of a large consortium of universities (University of Malta, University of Strathclyde and University of Newcastle) and industrial partner (BVT Surface Fleet Ltd, Corus and NST Welding).

Awarded the Best Research and Development Project, MWP Awards 2010 for the research work carried out during postgraduate studies at University of Strathclyde under the project MALCO - Creating Opportunities for the Manufacture of Lightweight Components.

Awarded the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2013 - Highly Commended by Emerald Publishing Ltd for the paper Thermo-Mechanical Behaviour of DBC Substrate Assemblies Subject to Soldering Fabrication Processes, Soldering & Surface Mount Technology, 24, 2, 100-111.
